Introduction: How to Make Chocolate Cake

This yummy chocolate cake is just the thing you need during the quarantine. It just fills your stomach with chocolatey goodness. The best part is, it's super easy to make!

Step 1: Ingredients/Tools Needed

The first step in this cake is to collect your ingredients. You will need vegetable oil, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, kosher salt, unsweetened cocoa powder, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. The tools I used were 8 or 9-inch circular baking pan, scissors, parchment paper, skewer, measuring cups, spatula, and a mixer. Now that you have your ingredients and tools you're ready to start making your cake.

Step 2: Preping Your Pan/Oven

Start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, to make it so the cake slides right out of the pan, trace the cake pan on a piece of parchment paper and then cut it out. Before you put the cut-out circle in the pan pour a little bit of your oil into the pan and spread it on the bottom and sides using your fingers. Then place the parchment circle into the pan.

Step 3: The Dry Ingredients

Start by pouring 1 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour in a medium-sized bowl. Then add 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, 1 3/4 tsp of baking powder, 1/4 tsp of baking soda, and 1 1/4 tsp of kosher salt. Wisk that together and then add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder and whisk to combine. This is kind of like a cake mix you would find in a box so you can store it in an airtight container for as long as you want.

Step 4: The Wet Ingredients

In a different bowl whisk together two large eggs, 3/4 cups of vegetable oil, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until it is combined and creamy. Next, pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and use a spatula to combine them. It will be very thick and have little moisture in it. This is ok.

Step 5: Milk/Oven

To turn the chocolate mixture into cake batter warm up 1 cup of milk in a small saucepan. You want the milk to come to a simmer, not a boil. Next, pour the warm milk into the cake mixture and mix it until lump-free and just combined. Then pour batter into pan and place in the oven for 40-50 minutes.

Step 6: Taking the Cake Out of the Pan

Stick a skewer into the cake and if it comes out clean the cake is ready. Let the cake cool and then run a knife around the edges of the cake. Then flip over onto a plate and bang on the pan to get the cake out. Make sure the parchment paper is not on the cake. To flip the cake back over place another plate on top of it and flip.

Step 7: Plating

Cut the cake into the desired amount of slices, plate on a plate, and place vanilla ice cream next to the cake. There are also many other toppings you can eat the cake with. Now its time to eat!
