Introduction: How to Make Guacamole

This is a simple guide on how to make fresh, homemade guacamole

Step 1: Preparation

Gather your ingredients/tools.

For this recipe, you will need:

2 ounces of diced red onion (about half of a small red onion)

4 ounces of diced tomato (about 2 small roma tomatoes)

6 avocados

2 ounces of lime juice

1 ounce of fire roasted poblano base

1 ounce of fire roasted jalapeno base

salt and pepper (to taste)

1 ounce of fresh cilantro

sharp knife

cutting board

Step 2: Cutting the Onion

Cut off the tops of the onion and peel off the skin and throw both the tops and the skin away.

Cut the onion in half (You will only need one half of the onion, so save the other half for another time).

Dice up the onion in to small, 1/4 inch pieces.

Step 3: Cutting the Tomatoes

Cut off the top of the tomatoes and throw them away.

Cut the tomatoes in half the long way so that you can see the insides.

Scoop out the tomato seeds with a spoon and throw them away.

Dice up the tomatoes in small, 1/4 inch pieces.

Place the onions and tomatoes into a small mixing bowl.

Step 4: Peeling the Avocado

Gather your 6 avocados and begin to cut them open.

The best way to do this is to cut into the top of the avocado and slice down, all the way around the pit in the middle. This should allow you to easily pull apart the two pieces of the avocado.

Next, using your knife, take out the pits of the avocados and throw them away.

Using a spoon, scoop out the contents of the avocados and throw away the skins.

Step 5: Pulsing the Avocado

Cut the avocados into small chunks and place them into the food processor along with 2 ounces of lime juice.

Pulse the avocados in the processor until you get a smooth, yet chunky substance. (Note: You want some small chunks of the avocado still present in the smooth contents of the pulsed avocado.)

Place the pulsed avocados into the bowl with the onions and tomatoes.

Step 6: Add the Remaining Ingredients

Add approximately 1 ounce of freshly chopped cilantro to the bowl.

Add approximately 1 ounce of fire roasted poblano base and 1 ounce of fire roasted jalapeno base to the avocados, onions, and tomatoes.

Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the bowl (season to taste).

Step 7: Mix It All Together

Using a spatula (or your hands, whichever you seem fit), mix together the contents of the bowl. Fold over the pulsed avocado and mix well to ensure that every ingredient is evenly mixed together.

Step 8: Enjoy

Remove the contents from the bowl to a serving dish for a nice presentation.

Get a bag of chips (or whatever you desire) and enjoy your freshly made, delicious guacamole.
