Kale Chips Ingredients:

1 bunch of Kale (My supermarket sells them for $0.99 a bunch)

Olive Oil (about 1 tablespoon)

Salt (a pinch)

***for added flavor try adding parmesan cheese, garlic powder, ranch popcorn powder, etc.

Step 1: Preheat Oven and Wash and Dry the Kale

First we need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (176 C). Then we wash and dry our Kale. I rinse mine with water, and then use paper towel to dry the Kale. We really want to dry the Kale as much as we can before baking it.

Step 2: Remove Kale From Stem

Now we need to remove the bitter stem. A simple way to do this is to grab the stem and then with your other hand grab the leaves and just pull, sliding your hand down the stem, pulling the Kale leaf with it. Simple!

Step 3: Break Into Bite Sized Pieces

Now we break the Kale apart into large bite sized pieces, similar to the size that you would use for a salad. Then arrange those flat on a baking tray. I have mine lined with an Artisan silicon baking mat. But you can use parchment paper, or just set them on the tray itself.

Step 4: Drizzle Olive Oil on the Kale

Now we drizzle about a tablespoon worth of Olive Oil on the kale pieces, then using our hands we mix in the oil, trying to coat as much of the leaves as possible.

Step 5: Ready to Go

Now that our Kale is lightly covered with Olive oil, and is arranged flatly on the baking tray, it is time to bake them in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. The time will vary depending on your oven. The last time I made them it only took about 16 minutes. Be sure and flip them over half way through, so about at the 8 minute mark, use some tongs and flip them over, so they bake evenly.

Step 6: Done

They will look like this when they are done. Nice and crispy!

Step 7: Add Salt

Now we just add salt and whatever flavorings you would like to add. Go crazy with it! If you come up with other toppings that you like, leave a comment and let me know!

Enjoy!!
