This is a quick and easy way of how to make cute pom poms monsters and animals. You can use them as a gift or just for fun!

Step 1: What You Need**

Materials -

Wool any colour you want

Cardboard from a tissue box, cereal box or shoe box

Coloured felt or paper

Different sizes and colours of googly eyes

Coloured pipe cleaners

Black pen or pencil

Tools -

Cup

A pair of long and sharp scissors

Hot glue gun or a glue stick

Step 2: Step 1 : Making the Pom Pom Maker

First get out your cardboard, cup, pen/pencil and scissors. Then place your cup on the cardboard and trace the rim of the cup with your pen/pencil. Draw two circles. If you want a bigger pom pom, trace a bigger cup with a bigger rim or a container that has circular edges. Afterwards draw a smaller circle inside the circles, making sure the circles are approximately 2.5 cm apart.

Next cut out your circles out with your scissors. Afterwards you’ll need to cut out a triangle that goes from the centre to the outside/perimeter of the circle. It will end up looking somewhat like a donut with a triangular-shape bite on the side.

Step 3: Step 2 : Making the Pom Pom

With the two donuts that you have made, start winding wool around them. Remember to leave space at the two ends of the cut outs. At this stage things can get a little tricky so you might want to ask an adult or friend for help. After you have wrapped the wool around the donuts, start cutting the wool in between the two cardboard circles edges. Next thread a piece of the wool into one of the smaller sides of the opening circle, making sure the string went in between the two cardboard donuts and out of the other end. Tie a knot or two to make sure it is secured. Then slowly pull out the pom pom from the triangle you made earlier.

Afterwards with your pom pom give it a shake and flatten it down. Then give it a trim to even the side out. Shake the pom pom again and trim. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with your pom pom.

Step 4: Step 3 - Decorating Your Pom Pom

Now when you have finished making your pom pom start decorating it with materials like googly eyes, pipe cleaners, felt and paper into your favourite animal or monster. Remember every pom pom creation you make is unique!
