These instructions will provide you with the information necessary to make your own batch of puppy chow. Any person of any age can use these instruction without any past experience or education. It is important to follow these instructions closely in order to apply correct measurements for the different ingredients used. These instructions will take roughly thirty minutes to complete.

Supplies

  • One 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips
  • One large, microwave safe bowl
  • Access to a microwave
  • Some sort of stirring utensil
  • Measuring cup
  • One cup of peanut butter
  • Five cups of Crispex (or off-brand) cereal
  • Two cups of powdered sugar
  • One 1-gallon Ziploc bag

Step 1: Chocolate Chips

Place entire bag of chocolate chips into a large bowl.

Caution: Make sure to use a microwave-safe bowl to prevent damage to property or yourself.

Step 2: Microwave

Microwave bowl for thirty seconds at a time, while stirring after each time, until chocolate chips are completely melted.

Step 3: Peanut Butter

Measure out one cup of peanut butter and place into the bowl with the melted chocolate chips.

Step 4: Mixing in the Peanut Butter

Stir in peanut butter until fully mixed with chocolate chips.

Step 5: Cereal

Measure out five cups of the cereal and pour it all into the bowl with the chocolate chips and peanut butter.

Step 6: Mixing in the Cereal

Scoop the melted chocolate and peanut butter from the bottom of the bowl to on top of the cereal until all of the cereal is thoroughly covered.

Be sure to be careful while scooping the chocolate on top of the cereal in order to avoid breaking the cereal pieces.

Step 7: Powdered Sugar

Measure out one and one fourth cups of powdered sugar and pour it into a Ziploc bag, along with all of the contents within the bowl.

Step 8: Shake the Bag

Shake the bag continuously by turning it upside down and back up right many times. While shaking, use your hands to break up large chunks of the puppy chow that are in the bag.

Step 9: Completely Covered

Continue to shake until all of the puppy chow is completely covered with powdered sugar.

If necessary, add more powdered sugar to ensure that all of the puppy chow is covered.

Step 10: Pour

Pour the puppy chow out of the bag and into a container of your choosing to store it in.

Step 11: Congratulations!

You have officially made puppy chow!
