Introduction: How to Make Strawberry Macrons

Do you ever want to have something sweet but don't want an entire dessert like cake or cupcakes? You should try and make macrons!

Supplies

Ingredients for the cookies

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup of almond flour
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs (preferably room temp.)
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of vanilla extract
  • food dye (any color of your choice)

Icing

  • Icing (I used store bought)
  • Strawberries

Tool

  • Sifter
  • Mixer (hand mixer)
  • Piping bags
  • Bowls
  • whisk
  • macron sheets

Step 1: Gather and Set Up Ingredients

Gather all your tools, ingredients, and recipe to get started!

Step 2: Sift Almond Flour and Powdered Sugar

  1. To begin, gather your bowl, whisk, and sifter. Pour your cup almond flour in the sifter and use the bowl to catch it. Begin to sift until finely ground. Then in a separate bowl, pour your cup of powdered sugar in sifter, and sift until finely ground. You will want your flour and sugar to be as fine as possible.

Step 3: Separating Your Egg Whites

For step two, you'll want to grab a third bowl and your two, room temp. eggs. Crack the eggs on the side of the bowl and separate the yolk from the egg white. You can use your hands or grab a spoon and remove the yolk while letting the egg white fall into the bowl.

Step 4: Mixing

For this next step your going to need you hand mixer. On a low speed mix the egg whites until you get a thick and foamy texture. The way to test if your mix is good, is by flipping the bowl upside down without anything falling out. This might take anywhere from 2-5 minutes depending on how much egg you have, and the speed your using.

Step 5: Coloring and Vanilla

Next you'll want to grab your food dye and vanilla extract. I used pink dye to match with the strawberry flavor of the icing. Hand Mix your dye and vanilla. To make sure your eggs are still the right consistency, flip your bowl upside down and check to make sure nothing falls out.

Step 6: Mixing in the Dry Ingredients

Now grab your bowl of almond flour, and your bowl of powdered sugar. To make sure your texture stays even, only mix in half of your bowl of flour and sugar. Take your rubber spatula and fold it into your eggs. Keep folding in your dry ingredients until completely mixed.

Step 7: Fill Into Piping Bag and Pipe Onto Tray

This next step can be messy, so make sure to take your time. Grab your piping bags and silicone macron mat. Have someone hold your piping bag open while you pour your mixture into the open bag. You can use your spatula to guide your batter into the bag. After you have poured your mix into the bag, tie off the top and cut a small to medium sized hole in your bag. Pipe out your mix from your bag onto your mat. You can pipe into a circle or any shape you want. I piped mine into hearts and circles for valentines day.

Step 8: Resting Period

  1. Once your cookies have been piped, its time to let them set. This can take anywhere from 25-30 minutes. While your waiting, preheat your oven to Preheat the oven to 300˚F.

After your 25-30 minutes cooling off period, you can touch the tops to see if they're ready to be baked. When you touch the tops of the cookies they shouldn't be sticky or move in any direction.

Step 9: Baking

After your oven has been set to 300˚F, put your macron cookies in the oven, and set a timer for 15 minutes. When you pull them out they should be almost the same color they were before.

Step 10: Cooling

Once you pull them out if the oven, they should have a nice shape and texture. Once you pull them out, they're ready to cool. You can leave them on your tray for another 10-15 minutes. Once they're cooled, you can pull them off your mat. Be Gentle!

Step 11: Icing

While your macrons are cooling, you can start to prepare the icing. For your icing you can hand make it or buy it from the store. I bought icing from the store and added strawberries to it. I put my icing in a piping bag and piped it on to my cookies after they were cooled.

Step 12: Enjoy!

You've finished your macrons! Now you have a small treat to enjoy!
