Introduction: How to Create a Necklace With a Pendant

This is my first Instructable, so I figured that I should start simple. In this tutorial, many of the steps will have pictures to help explain how to recreate this necklace or one similar to it.

My future mother-in-law introduced me to jewelry making a couple of years ago, and I've been in love ever since! It's a great way to reuse good beads from jewelry that you don't wear anymore.

There were a few times that I had to change the pattern of the non-focus beads because I took them from necklaces and bracelets that I had made or purchased before.

I make my jewelry at home. I've learned that it's easier for me to make my jewelry than to spend over $20.00 for something just like it from a retailer.

Materials Needed:

Fishing line or "Bead 'N Stretch" super stretchy cord
1 Pendant
Beads
2 Crimps
1 Lobster claw clasp
2 Jump rings

Step 1: Adding the Pendant and Stopper Bead

Cut about 3 feet (1 meter) of cord.

Since I used clear cord and a small, clear stopper bead in the original necklace, above is a series of pictures of how to achieve this step.

1.  String on your pendant and stopper bead.
2.  Pull the end of the cord back through the pendant.
3.  Manipulate the cord and stopper bead so that the pendant is in the middle of the length of cord. The stopper bead should end up as close to the pendant as possible.

Step 2: Finishing the Necklace

Lay out the beads that you will be using to figure out your pattern. Add the beads onto the cord or fishing line to create the necklace.

Above is a series of pictures to show how to finish the necklace. The instructions are also on the pictures for clarification.

1.  Add jump rings to both ends of the necklace.
2.  Add the lobster clasp by opening one of the jump rings, sliding on the clasp and closing the jump ring.
3.  Close the crimp with needle-nose pliers.
4.  Trim excess cord to about 2 mm beyond the crimp.

And you're done!
