Introduction: How to Make a Sheep Turn Rainbow Colors

About: Hi! I'm Geoff! I'm an electrical engineer with a passion for making things. I believe that creating is for everyone, and I love being able to share what I've learned to enable others to pursue their passions. …

Welcome to my Instructable! Today I will be teaching you about an Easter Egg in Minecraft: You can make Rainbow Sheep!

(Update: This Easter Egg has been verified to work in Bedrock Edition up to version 1.14. It does not work on XBox 360.)

Step 1: Whatever It Takes

To access this Easter Egg, you will need:

  • 1 Sheep
  • 1 Name Tag
  • 1 Anvil
  • 1 Level of Experience

Step 2: Give It a Name!

This is where the magic happens.

First, right click on the anvil. This should pop up a UI. Drag the name tag into the first empty box. In the empty text field, type in "jeb_". (No quotation marks)

Please note: This action costs 1 Experience Level.

Once you have done this, take out the newly named name tag!

Step 3: Name That Pokemo... Sheep!

Approach your sheep calmly, feel free to give it a nice pet if you like, maybe a warm hug, but remember: Sheep are known for their personal space issues. Give them time to get acclimated to your presence. Just speak softly and validate their emotions. Don't worry, they'll warm up to you quickly.

Once you are near the sheep, and have gained it's trust, right click on it.

Note: Please get the sheep's permission before initiating this. Choosing a name is a big step in this sheep's life, you don't want to rush it into anything it isn't ready for yet.

Doing this will give the sheep a name, and you should see it begin to glow a spectrum of colors!

Step 4: That's All Folks!

Now your sheep should be glowing all the colors of the rainbow, and looking mighty fine. (If I do say so myself)

That's all there is to the Easter Egg! Hope you enjoyed this Instructable, if you did, make sure to check out my other projects and give this one a thumbs up!

(Final Note: If you shear your sheep, it will only give you the color of wool that the sheep was originally.)
