How to Mix 2 Stroke Gas

Introduction: How to Mix 2 Stroke Gas

About: i am a kid who likes to make stuff out of metal and likes stick welding and putting weedeaters and chainsaws on bicycles. i own a 70 amp stick welder from princess auto and many small 2 stroke engines

hi this is my second instructable so please forgive me if i made a mistake.2 stroke gas is used in many things from weed eaters to motor cycles.I will show you how to mix it for a weed eater. My weed eater has a 40 to one ratio. if you have sone thing witha different ratio i will put upa chart for different ratios.

Step 1: Materials

Materials
ECHO 2 stroke fuel mix (best one i tried)
1 gallon gas can
gas

Where to buy the stuff
gas can -canadian tire
ECHO 2 stroke oil- home depot
gas- gas station (duh)

Step 2: How Much Oil to Add

well this depends on the fuel ratio written on the fuel cap. I am also putting a chart up so it is a lot easier.

Step 3: Final Notes

to mix put half a gallon of gas in the gas can put in the oil be accurate depending on the ratio
after that fill it all the way up to the line again be accurate.
if you live in the US use the pump meter.

Hey, this is a great instructable and is very informative. Just one thing is missing... pictures! It really helps a lot when trying to follow directions so you should consider taking some photographs. Once you do that and leave me a message when you have so that we can publish your work. Thanks! Thanks for the cool instructable and we hope to publish this soon!

Proper Capitalization, Grammer, and Punctuation wouldn't hurt either

Thanks for your instructable.  I use a 35mm plastic film canister to measure the oil.  A canister holds about 1.1 ounces.  If I want 1 ounce, I just underfill it a little.  I also pour my measured oil into the gasoline container first.  Then I take the container to the filling station.  When the gasoline runs into the container from the hose, it is mixed quite well.  I have used an oil container like the one you show.  It works, but I am not sure it is that much handier than my film canister.  I do not need to worry about cleaning out the film canister, nor about keeping it clean.  I just put the cap back on it until I need it the next time.

As an afterthought, I also make a label with a labelmaker to indicate the ratio for each 2-cycle machine we have, and we have two.  That makes it easier to get past remembering which is 1:24 and which is 1:32.
