Light Up Sign-IN/OUT

What's the problem?
Students are required to sign out when they leave the classroom.

  • Struggles: Students can’t tell analog time (I know when they have to learn, but usually students wait too long to sign up, and they just need to sign up fast).
  • When sitting at their seat we don’t know if someone is out of the room or back.

Supplies

Makey Makey

Box that can fit over laptop screen

Glue stick

Laptop

scissors

Play-Doh

LED light with separate terminals

Step 1:

Find a box that can fit over or in front of your laptop.

Step 2:

Log into scratch and find What time is it? Scratch project

Cut out a rectangle to fit the screen of the scratch project.

Paste direction sign on the side of box.

Step 5: Set Up Your Makey Makey

Step 6:

Step 7:

Step 8: Make Two Balls of Play-Doh and Set Up Like Photo

Step 9:

Check time on clock

Sign out

Touch the two balls of Play-Doh together and the light will go on

Check time on computer screen

Sign back in

Separate the Play-Doh balls so the light will go off
