Logic Analyzer With Android User Interface

Introduction: Logic Analyzer With Android User Interface

The world is already flooded with so many logic analyzers. In my electronics hobby, I needed one for troubleshooting and debugging. I searched the internet but I cannot find the one I am looking for. So here I am, introducing ...

"YET Another Logic Analyzer"

I built one for myself and you can easily build one for yourself too.

This is not "Just Another Logic Analyzer"

because this one is a game changer,

Its Android app is raising the bar for Logic Analyzers. It connects to your Android phone without a cable. Yes, no cumbersome usb cables.

Power supply: 5V

8 digital inputs (OR OUTPUTS) 3.3V level (5V tolerant)

Maximum sampling rate: 100MHz

protocol analyzer: UART (I2C & SPI in development)

Maximum Capture Size: 28672 samples

Before you jump and build the hardware from off-the-shelf components, you may want to test drive the Android app and decide later if this is the one you need.

Step 1: Download the APP From Google Play

Please download the free APP from Google Play. Search for the Yetala app, install then launch.

You may want to read the pdf file below to see a more detailed demo tutorial.

Step 2: Running the APP in Demo Mode

In the main menu, touch the SETTINGS icon at the topmost rightmost corner. Then touch select Demo Mode from the drop-down list. Once the APP is in demo mode, touch the RUN icon as shown above.

Step 3: Scrolling Through the Waveform

After the app finished loading the built-in waveform, you can pan the waveform display by touching and sliding your finger in the display. The upper portion is the Fullview pane, it shows the entire capture of the selected channel. You can also slide your finger inside the Fullview pane to scroll faster.

Step 4: Selecting Which Channel to Show in Fullview

Step 5: Activating the Cursors

Double tap anywhere in the Fullview pane to activate the cursors. To move any of the two cursors, touch the red or blue cursor in the Fullview pane and slide your finger.

Step 6: Exit From the APP Properly

To properly exit from the APP, touch the SETTINGS icon in the menu and select the EXIT option at the bottom of the drop-down list. If the EXIT option is not visible, scroll the list upward until you see the EXIT option.

DOWNLOAD the pdf file from Step 1 to see the full demo tutorial:

When you feel satisfied with the Android app demo and you think you want to have the real hardware, read the ConstructionGuide.pdf below and start building. It's easy.

**you also need the _yetala_pkg.zip below to re-program the WeMOS board and the fpga board.
