Introduction: Low Poly Wooden Wall Art
Inspired by https://www.instructables.com/id/Tessellated-Wooden-Art I made a low poly picture of a hummingbird.
Step 1: Things You Need
Materials:
- piece of plywood (mine was 12mm sheet)
- scrap piece of wood or plywood for the background
- spray adhesive or any other glue to attach template to the plywood
- paint
- wood glue
- super glue
- wall hanging hardware
Tools:
- printer
- saw (I used a scroll saw)
- sanding paper
Step 2: Cutting the Template
I printed out the image of a hummingbird on two sheets of paper and glue them on a 12mm plywood. I cut each triangle out with a scroll saw. While doing so, I also number each triangle on the printed image as well on the bottom of the wood pieces.
Step 3: Painting and Glueing
I lightly sanded and painted each piece and started glueing them to the wood board. Since pieces are so small I wasn't able to use any clams, instead I used a wood glue with a bit of super glue to hold pieces in place while the wood glue do the magic.
Step 4: Final Product
All in all, I am pretty happy with how my little project turned out! Though, if I would do it once again, I would definitelly use a bigger mesh size, since some pieces were so small that I needed to use a tweezer while placing them down.
