Introduction: Manburger, a Hamburger for a Healthy Appetite

About: I think my interests tell a lot about me, I'm a multimedia artist which means I work in whatever medium grabs my attention, paint on canvas is very relaxing and acrylic paint can be mixed with paper to make a …

WHOAAAA I said healthy appetite not a healthy meal ! Are you tired of those hockey puck sized burgers you get at most cookouts? Those one handed burgers you get at fastfood windows leave you needing more?  Here's MY idea of the proper hamburger for a man... ok... even a woman with a healthy appetite...

Step 1: Getting Set Up

Ok... lets raid the refrigerator.. your going to need
 1/2 to 3/4lb of 80/20 ground beef
 2-3 strips of bacon
 cheese
 steak sauce
 worcheshire sauce
hot peppers (insert shameless plug here) https://www.instructables.com/id/Awesome-Hot-Pepper-Medleyrelishsalad/
hamburger roll, hard roll or in this case whole wheat bread

Step 2: MMMMM Bacon !

1st things 1st, get the frying pan hot and cook your bacon
Get it as crispy as you like and remove to paper towel. Save the liquid elixier of the gods to a jar and refrigerate, leaving a tablespoon or so in the pan.

Step 3: The Burger

take a big handful of your ground beef, add some steak sauce and worcheshire sauce and mix well, form into a patty a little bigger than the roll or bread that's its intended resting place and into the hot frying pan

Step 4: Sizzle, Pop

lid will help keep the heat in, let it cook untouched for 3minutes then uncover and flip the burger, cook for 2minutes and then add the cheese and replace the lid

Step 5: Prep the Sandwich

While the burger is cooking, toast the bread or roll and lay down a bed of hot peppers for the burger to rest on

Step 6: Almost There....

Back to the stove where the cheese has melted and covered the burger.. use a spatula or whatever utensil you have handy to transfer the burger to its bed of peppers... top it with your bacon (don't steal a piece like I did)..don't forget the ketchup(catsup) on the other slice of bread (or top of the roll)

Step 7: Ready Set.... Serve !

You don't have to cut the sandwich in half, thats a personal preference, fries, baked beans, potato or macaroni salad would make nice sides but I went with chips.. add your beverage of choice and enjoy

Tasty!  I've never tried the peppers, but I think I'm gonna!

I would personally recommend some onions, too.  Slice one-half a yellow onion, separated into rings, with 1-2Tbsp butter in a pan over medium heat.  To do this right, it takes a while, but cook them until they're golden-brown (well caramelized).

Here's the critical part:  put the onions on the burger first, THEN the cheese.  Melty, cheesy goodness with onions... yum!  Okay, it's in the neighborhood of "patty melt", but with the bacon and peppers I think you've got a whole new creation.

But a manburger deserves a thick slice of raw red onion.  Sauteed onions tend to slide out too much.

While I agree with both types of onion, there's a 3rd choice.... I have the onion in with the peppers ! But if I had, had a raw onion handy I probably would have added it.

      Thank you both for commenting

Yum, cholesterol bomb.  At least you have whole wheat bread to balance it out.
