Introduction: Maple Syrup Jug Birdhouse

Make a cute little birdhouse from recycled Maple Syrup Jug or any sturdy used jug container.

Step 1: Simple Jug Recycled Into Cute Birdhouse

Those who have seen my other item know that I believe in simple, quick and a minimum of required tools and parts. This little bird house is quick and easy and can be made by anyone in less than half and hour including finding the perfect location to hang it. Hope you enjoy.

Rather than throwing syrup jugs into the recycle bin it can be repurposed quickly and with a minimum of tools into a cozy little bird house that wrens, chick-a-dees and titmice will love. I have several in my yard and they have been used over and over by my feathered friends.

You will need

1. A jug ( I took the label off just because it was easy but some don't come off as easy---the birds really don't care.

2. A pair of pliers

3. A ice pick

4. A pants hanger

Step 2:

Remove the paper part of the pants hanger and straighten on side of the wire with the pliers. Make a hook with the other side. Coat hanger wire is tuff so be careful when trying to bend it.

Step 3: The Tricky Part

Take your ice pick and heat it in a flame; either a candle or on the stove if you have gas. While it is hot, poke a hole in the bottom of the jug on the top side where the handle is. If you are a kid, ask for some help doing this.

Step 4: The Finished Product

Hook the looped end around the handle and stick the straightened end in the bottom hole. Look for a tree to hang it in and wait for visitors to check it out.

These can be made out of all sizes of jugs and bottles for different size birds in you yard or on your balcony. You will enjoy watching the new family grow and fly away.
