Introduction: Melt-in-Your Mouth Orange Krispies
It's a SNOW day in Vermont and with 2 feet of snow on the ground and still snowing, it is the perfect time to make my "Melt-in-Your Mouth Orange Krispies!"
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Ingredients Needed:
- 1 Cup Crisco Shortening (1 Stick)
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Orange Extract
- 1 1/2 Cup King Arthur Flour All Purpose Flour
- Orange Sprinkles
Step 2: Pre-Heat Your Oven
- Check your oven to make sure it's EMPTY!
- Set your oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 3: Mix and Measure
Mix together the stick of shortening and the salt until well mixed.
Step 4: Cream It!
Cream or mix together the salt and the shortening until it is fluffy.
Step 5: Cookies on the Sheet
- Cover your cookie sheets with parchment paper or baking spray.
- Drop your cookies by teaspoonful onto the cookie sheets.
;
Step 6: Mix the ESOE!
- Add to your creamed shortening/salt mixture:
- Egg
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Orange Extract
- 1 C. Sugar
- 1 1/2 C. Flour
- Egg
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Orange Extract
- 1 C. Sugar
- 1 1/2 C. Flour
Step 7: Sprinkle Your Cookies
Lightly sprinkle the cookies BEFORE you bake them with Orange Sprinkles!
Step 8: Into the Oven
- Place large cookie sheet into the oven.
- For best results, only bake one level of sheets at a time.
Step 9: Cool Off the Cookies!
- Take your cookie sheet out of the oven and place on the counter to cool for 2 min.
- After 2 min., take the cookies off the cookie sheet and place on cooling rack.
Step 10: REPEAT and CLEAN UP!
- Continue those steps until all cookie dough is used up about 4 dozens bite size cookies!
- Store the leftover cookies in an air-tight container. (If you haven't eaten them all!)
- Clean up and put your recipe away!
- Just as an option for future cookies - extract flavors and sprinkle colors can be changed out to depending on the season! For example, raspberry extract and red sprinkles for Valentine's Day.

The juxtaposition of snowy scenes highlighted the melt-in-your-mouth yumminess of these treats! Nice touch! I was dying to put a few dark chocolate morsels atop each cookie...orange and chocolate rock!
