Introduction: Minecraft Farming

In this instructable I will show you how to create a farm and use what you grow to make cakes and bread.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies.

You will need a bucket of water, seeds, hoe, and bone meal. You will use the bucket of water to water the crops. The seeds will be planted and hopefully grow. The hoe turns the ground into appropriate farm ground. The bone meal speeds plant growth.

Step 2: Prep Your Ground.

Find an open space to plant your crops. Start by digging a hole, 1 block deep. Use the bucket of water to fill the hole. Switch to the hoe tool, and create a square 8 blocks by 8 blocks with a cross in the middle. Each of the sides needs to be no more than 4 blocks away from the water in the center.

Step 3: Planting

Using the hoe tool, remove the remaining grass from inside your square. Next grab your seeds and start selecting the ground where you want to plant the seeds. I suggest you plant in rows to make harvest easier.

Step 4: Harvest

Once the wheat turns yellow it is ready for harvest. To harvest the wheat you chop it down and walk around gathering the wheat bushels and seeds. Each wheat block will release 1 to 2 wheat bushels, and 2 to 3 seeds.

Step 5: Crafting Food

Using the resources from your field, chickens, and some nice cows, you can now craft some yummy food. Using the search function and the Crafting table you can search for the item you want to make. I make a cake and some bread in the images above. Once you select the item you want to make, the crafting table will be populated with the required ingredients if you have them. If you do not have all the ingredients, the item will appear red in the search box. Once the item is made, select it from the box on the crafting table and add it to your inventory. Your ingredients will only be used if you collect the item from the crafting table.

Step 6: Enjoy!

Thanks for reading this Instructable, and I hope you enjoy creating your own field!
