Mini Heater




Introduction: Mini Heater

This device is a personal mini heater. I will show you how to make this in less than 10 minutes and $5!

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

For this, you will need these items:

1. Thin wire (I used 30 gauge wire).

2. A small diameter tube. (I used a thin metal tube from an old air soft gun).

3. Duct Tape (Optional but very helpful)

4. D-Cell battery

Step 2: Start Wrapping the Wire

Start by taping the wire to hold in in place, then wrap around the tube with wires very close together but not on top of one another.

Step 3: Finish Wrapping the Wire

After you're done wrapping, it should look like mine and very close together, it is only a few inches of wrapping, so be sure to not go overboard.

Step 4: Sanding

After you are done wrapping, you need to lightly sand the wires to have a good connection. It should show up as a light colored shiny gold.

Step 5: Add the Battery

Just tape one wire to the - (negative) and the other to the + (positive). As shown in the pictures.

Step 6: You're Done!

Congrats! You've made your own mini heater, just put it in your pocket or in your car, and if you get cold...Just hold it in your hands!!! Hope you liked this instructable :)

    About what temperature would this get? How would one increase the temperature?

    super cool! I love the simplicity of it and how you don't need to solder anything or use an auridino board! :)

    While this is a neat instructable. you are however directly shorting the battery which could cause it to rupture and leak. If using alkaline this isn't of to much concern. If a person chose to us a rechargeable battery of some type the damage could be worse. However I offer this info so that you may better explore the dynamics of heating coils and in turn further you knowledge and instructables.
