Introduction: Mini Herb Garden
I have been wanting a mini herb garden that I can keep outside in the summer but bring in during the winter. I am not too sure how long I will be able to keep it alive, but I figure that I can replant whatever I kill with something else. If it gets really bad, I will plant a cactus garden--I probably can't kill something that is supposed to need very little water.
If you are going to use old prescription bottles like I did, you should wash them first. You do not need to feed your plants all the medications you have been taking.

Step 1: Materials
- Wood planks (I used the bed slats from my son's old bunk bed)
- empty pill bottles
- 1 1/4 inch drill bit (or size to match your containers)
- Wood glue
- Nails
Equiptment:
- Drill press
- Sand paper
- Hammer
Step 2: Cutting and Drilling
I had the slats from my son's old bunk bed so all I had to do was cut them to length. I cut 4 pieces that were about a foot long.
I wanted the pill bottles to slide in and out easily so I next time I will use an inch and 3/8 drill bit which is a bit larger than the bottles. There is a nice lip on the bottles so they did not slide all the way through the holes.
I drilled the holes at an angle so that the bottles are tipped up just a little bit--one or two holes in each plank.
Sand any sharp edges.
Step 3: Assembly
Glue and nail the pieces to form an accordion wall. I cut 4 planks but decided to only use 2. I am thinking about making a larger version (maybe 2 feet tall with at least 6 or 8 planks)
Plant the pill bottles by first drilling a small drain hole. Sprinkle a small amount of gravel in the bottom. Fill with potting soil. Sprinkle with seeds.
Insert the pill bottles into each hole.
