Here is a rig for lighting fireworks remotely. It consists mainly of a mousetrap, a piece of brass tube, a matchbox striker pad, and a match.
It is a fun project to build, but I would classify it more of a 'novelty' because it isn't super practical. Watch the video for a demonstration and an explanation.
