Introduction: Mummified Canvas Art

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Get all wrapped up in this easy DIY project using Halloween clearance items!

Step 1: Materials

Here's what you will need to make it:

  • a blank canvas
  • black paint
  • paint brush
  • scissors
  • glue gun
  • jumbo googly eyes
  • plastic spiders
  • craft Halloween gauze

Step 2: Paint Canvas

First, paint the entire canvas black and let dry completely.

Step 3: Add Googly Eyes

Next, glue on a pair of jumbo googly eyes across the top, and let that dry.

Step 4: Wrap Gauze

From there, grab the gauze and wrap it around the canvas. If you want, you can wrap the canvas with the gauze and cut what ever's left over in the back. Or, you can cut your gauze into strips, and overlap them for a fun layered look! I suggest that you start by hot gluing the first end of the gauze on top to keep it from moving as you continue to wrap around.

Step 5: Add Spiders

If you want to give it an even more creepier look, you can throw in some plastic spiders with just a few dots of hot glue!

Step 6: Done!

Now, it's ready to give off a fun scare for Halloween!

Note: I actually did this project a couple of days after Halloween, because I wanted to save this for next year. Therefore, this is just an example of some of the Halloween projects that you can do and save for next Halloween so that you will always be prepared for the holiday!
