Introduction: Newspaper Origami Crane
Everyone loves origami. And whats more green than recycling? Nothing. So I decided to take them and put'em together. So let's get started git-r-done!
Step 1: The Base
He first step is to make a square. Take the top of the paper and fold it to the left side. There will be a spare part beneath it. Cut that off to have a square. It doesn't have to be exact, but it helps.
Step 2: First Fold
Unfold your first fold. Flip paper over. Fold the tip along the other diagonal to its opposite. Crease well. Undold again. Take one one of the crased lines that make a mountain shape and put it against the valley shaped fold. Repeat. Then fold the top tip to the bottom and flatten.
Step 3: More Creases
Here comes more folds. Take the bottom right section (where the two papers can be pryed apart) and fold them to the center. Repeat on the left side. After that fold the top triangle above the two folded parts down along that line. Unfold the last three folds after creasing well. Now, here comes the hardest part. Take the bottom tip and fold it up. It should utilize the creases you made earlier. Fold the two sides into the middle. Flip over and repeat.
Step 4: Folds Galore
Now here is where the crane will take shape. Take one side of your rhombus and fold it to the other. Now you should have two prongs going upwards. Push them down slightly so they are angled. Now we do the head. Take one side and fold down the top eighth. Push it back up. Press down on the crease it makes to form a kite shape. Fold the bottom half up. Now the wings. Take the bottom part of the large kite shape made from the base and fold it up. After that fold down about a fifth. Repeat on the other side so it matches. Fold the wings up a little and there you go! Behold your beautiful recycled craft!
