Introduction: No-Bake Cookies!

These are my family recipe, easy to make, no-bake cookies! They are cooked on a stove top instead of in the oven. There is no flour or baking soda required! CONTAINS PEANUT BUTTER! Unfortunately this item is non-interchangeable with other ingredients unless it is some sort of peanut free peanut butter (if they make that).

Step 1: Getting the Ingredients

2 cups of sugar
1/2 cup of evaporated milk
1/3 cocoa
1 stick of butter (or 1/4 of a pound)
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
2 1/2 cups of oats
1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter
Wax paper

All of these ingredients can be found at any local supermarket or grocer.

Step 2: Measuring Ingredients Out

This recipe goes really fast so it is best to measure all of your ingredients and put them into small bowls ahead of time, and lay out two sheets of wax paper about the size of a cookie sheet on a counter or table. These need to be laid on a flat surface and away from any heat.

Step 3: Cooking and Mixing

Mix together the cocoa, sugar, butter, and evaporated milk in a saucepan thoroughly. Once they are mixed well put them onto medium/ medium-high heat until boiling. YOU MUST STIR THE WHOLE TIME. If this sits on the heat for longer than a few seconds it will burn and will not turn out! Texture must remain loose, and appearance must be glossy. Once boiling, stir for 3-5 minutes then take off heat.
It should start out something like the first picture and be thick with butter chunks, and should end around the second picture with a smooth texture and no chunks of ingredients.

Step 4: Bringing It All Together

IMMEDIATELY add the oats, vanilla, and peanut butter. Stir well but quickly! Mixture must be hot to form the cookies. You may return to heat but only long enough to warm everything up, not long enough to cook it anymore.

Step 5: Dishing It Out

While mixture is still hot, use a spoon to form the cookies. No-bakes are notorious for not really having a shape so don't worry about them being pretty. You will on need them to be about the amount of a teaspoon and relatively consistent in amount. Just make sure you press down slightly with the spoon once you have dished them out so they cool evenly. Space them apart about one inch (as shown above). Cookies are recommended to cool overnight but need at least a few hours. To check if ready, insert a toothpick into center of thickest one. If it comes out clean they are probably ready. They must be completely cool and firm. Enjoy!
