Introduction: Non-Soap Cleansing Clay Bar

If you are soap-free, shampoo-free, or chemical-free here is a wonderful recipe for a completely soap-free chemical-free cleansing bar.

I have researched for a non-soap cleansing bar for a while, but none of the recipes I found seemed to work. I always ended up with a goop of mud that worked better as a facial mask. After many experiments I came up with this recipe.


1 part Cocoa and/or shea butter

1 part Coconut oil

2 part Clay and/or powdered oats

1 part Baking soda

1 part Sea salt

0.25 parts Beeswax

Essential oils of choice


Double boiler (or makeshift double boiler with sauce pan and glass measuring cup)

Mixing tool (spoon or chop stick)

Measuring cups/spoons


Step 1: Set Up Double Boiler With Boiling Water

Get your double boiler started with boiling water. You can makeshift a double boiler with a saucepan and a glass measuring cup.

Step 2: Melt Butters and Beeswax

Melt butters and beeswax in the double boiler on a medium low heat.

Step 3: Take Off Heat

When the butters and wax is fully melted, take off the heat source.

Step 4: Add Powders

Add baking soda, sea salt, and clay.

Step 5: Add Essential Oils

Add essential oils of choice.

Step 6: Mix and Pour Into Mold

Mix completely and pour into mold.

Step 7: Cool

Cool until fully hardened. This should take 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the batch and mold. You can put in the refrigerator to cool more quickly.

Sea salt has alkalizing effect that helps in balancing the acid levels in your body and eliminating potential risks of fatal diseases.

Lemon essential oil uses for skin can improve your complexion and leave your skin soft and supple. When the skin becomes oily, lemon oil can be used as a natural toner, balancing and rejuvenating the skin when used properly. Lemon essential oil is a natural cleanser, degreaser, and disinfectant.

Baking soda exfoliates dead skin. neutralize acids on the skin and help wash away oil and perspiration, it also makes your skin feel very soft. It is often used as a gentle skin cleanser for babies.

Tea Tree EO is anti-viral, anti-candida, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal ,and anti-septic .

Shea butter is very healing and moisturizing for the skin. It helps with skin regeneration and provides UV protection.

Cocoa butter is a natural antioxidant moisturizer and skin protector.
