Introduction: Outdoor Classroom

When its nice out, you can have class outside

Step 1: Step 1 Location

You will need a flat open area outside that is about the size of a small classroom (15-20 x 20-25 feet). find long straight sticks that are 3-5 feet long and hammer them into the ground around the perimeter, space them about six inches apart. Make sure you leave a space in the fence so people can get in and out. The exact number of sticks you will need will depend on the size of the classroom.

Step 2: Step 2: Seating

You will need tree stumps that are 14-16 inches in diameter and 16-18 inches tall (2 for each bench). You will also need 4 foot lengths of 2x4 (3 for each bench). The number of benches you make is up to you, but the more the better.

1. make sure stumps are level.

2. to create a shelf for the boards to rest on draw a line across the stump 3 inches in from the straightest side. Cut 2 inches down on that line and cut out the smaller section. A chainsaw will work best for this.

3. Use 3 inch deck screws to fasten the boards to the stumps. Put at least 4 screws at each end of each board.
