Introduction: Overnight Patriotic Oats

About: I'm self taught. I like to make things. (I'm also very thrifty and I don't care much for shopping, so I make a lot of my gifts.) I'm pretty much a do-it-yourselfer.

These overnight oats are patriotic! Why? Because they are red, white and blue of course! They are cool and creamy and filled with healthy, yummy, super foods, and the best part is, you don't have to do anything in the morning! Just layer everything in the jar the night before, and put it in the fridge!

Supplies

Mason jars with lids.

For each jar:

1/2 cup of old fashioned oats

1/2 cup of milk

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1 tablespoon of hemp seeds

1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds

1/4 tsp of cinnamon

1/4 cup of Greek yogurt

1/4 cup of chopped strawberries

1/4 cup of blueberries

2 tablespoons of honey

(2 teaspoons of brown sugar, if you're feeling naughty!)

Step 1: Jars

Get your clean empty mason jars with lids.

Step 2: Oats

Take a 1/2 cup scoop of dry oatmeal and put it in the jar.

Step 3: Milk

Add 1/2 cup of milk to the jar. (This softens the oatmeal overnight; no need to cook them!)

Step 4: Chia Seeds

Add one tablespoon of chia seeds.

Step 5: Hemp Seeds

Add one tablespoon of hemp seeds.

Step 6: Flax Seed

Add one tablespoon of Flax seed.

Step 7: Cinnamon

Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

Step 8: Honey

Add two tablespoons of honey.

Step 9: Strawberries

Add 1/4 cup of chopped up strawberries.

Step 10: Blue Berries

Add 1/4 cup blue berries, (you can use frozen blue berries, they will be thawed by morning.)

Step 11: Greek Yogurt

Add 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt.

Step 12: Lid

Put your lid on and place in the refrigerator.

Step 13: Enjoy!

In the morning your oatmeal will be soft and creamy. Give it a good stir so you get every bit of goodness in each bite! Enjoy!
