PET Bottle to Jewelry Box

Create your own small jewelry box from a recycled soda bottle!

Step 1:

Rinse and dry PET bottle

Step 2:

Mark a line about __ inches from the bottom, or just where the bottle's curvature begins to change. Using the utility knife, carefully cut a line around the circumference of the bottle.

Step 3:

Your soda bottle should have five bumps on the bottle, to maximize its stability when standing. Make a mark in between each of these bumps, indicating where your vertical cuts will be made. Using scissors, make vertical cuts down toward the base of the bottle, stopping approximately __inches from the bottom.

*Make sure your cuts are all of equal length!

Step 4: Trim

Round off the hard edges at the top of your container, to protects the users' fingers when opening and closing it.

Step 5: Fold

Fold over the flaps and add a bead or other indicator that your box is now closed! ...And voilá!
