Introduction: Pastry Cheese Straws
These are a family favorite and my grams always made these for me and my many siblings. She taught me how to make them and left me the recipe card. I typically make the dough throw it in the fridge/freezer where it can last for weeks but can be quickly thrown in the oven for a small gathering, or that unexpected guest.
Supplies
This recipe calls for ;
1/4 to 1/2 lb. aged cheddar cheese (grated or grind)
3 to 4 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1teaspoon Worcester sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of hot pepper sauce
1/4 to 1/2 lb. aged cheddar cheese (grated or grind)
3 to 4 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1teaspoon Worcester sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash of hot pepper sauce
Step 1: Grating and Grinding!!!
For this step grate or grind the aged cheddar cheese. This is a very simple recipe but a family favorite.
Step 2: Combine Your Ingredients!
Combine your cheese with your butter, flour, Worcester, salt, and hot pepper sauce.
Step 3: Time to Prepare Your Dough.
Take the dough you just made and form it into 1-inch rolls. Then wrap in foil and refrigerate till cold enough to slice as thin as humanly possible (under a quarter inch).
Step 4: Bake It Up!
Bake in pre-heated oven for about twelve minutes. Finish by dashing salt pepper and maybe a hint of oregano or chili flakes.
