Introduction: Peanut Buster Parfait

This is an ice cream dessert from my great-grandmothers recipes. The bottom crust is a made of crushed oreo cookies. Then a layer of ice cream. This is topped with peanuts and then its all covered with chocolate sauce.

It gets its name from the Peanut Buster Parfait at Dairy Queen which has a lot of the same ingredients.

Step 1: Gather Ingredients

bottom crust:

  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 15 oz Oreo cookies (about 38 cookies ... less than one full package)

middle:

  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups peanuts

sauce on top:

  • 1 stick of butter, not melted
  • 12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Step 2: Prepare the Crust

  1. crush Oreo cookies in a food processor
  2. mix in melted butter
  3. spread it evenly into the bottom of a 9"x13" glass dish

Step 3: Add Ice Cream and Peanuts

  1. Scoop the softened ice cream on top of the crust
  2. Spread the ice cream evenly
  3. Sprinkle peanuts over the top of the ice cream
  4. Put it into the freezer until the ice cream is frozen again (about an hour)

Step 4: Make the Chocolate Sauce Topping

  1. put the evaporated milk, butter, powdered sugar, and chocolate chips into a sauce pan
  2. bring the mixture to a boil for eight minutes ... stir constantly so nothing burns on the bottom of the pan
  3. take the 9x13" pan out of the freezer ... pour the sauce over the ice cream and use a spatula to smooth it into an even layer
  4. put the 9x13 dish back into the freezer until the ice cream and topping are frozen solid

After about an hour your dessert is ready to enjoy!
