Keep small children away from the oven area when the oven is in use at all times. Children 16 and under should not be using the oven.

Step 1: Preheat Oven to 375 Degrees F (190 Degrees C)

Step 2: Whisk Together the Butter, Peanut Butter, Brown Sugar, and White Sugar.

In a large bowl, whisk together the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth and fluffy. This will take some strong whisking for 2-3 minutes to fully combine (or 1-2 minutes for hand mixer).

NOTE:
It is important to not over whisk, as this can result in dense cookies. To help avoid this, keep a close eye on the mixture once all ingredients are just combined and proceed slowly, stopping right when they have just become creamy and smooth. This is also why it is important to not use melted butter, but just room temperature or softened butter. Melted butter will not allow the mixture to stay light and smooth, and will make it more liquid and dense.

Step 9: Bake for 11 to 15 Minutes or Until Golden Brown.

Bake for 11 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven on the middle rack, or until edges are golden brown.

Times may vary depending on the oven, so keep a close eye on them.

DO NOT rotate or open up the oven to check on the cookie, that will release the heat and cause oven temperature to lower which will result in longer minutes for the cookies to bake properly.

Step 10: Allow Cookies to Cool.

Allow cookies to cool before removing the wire racks to cool completely.

Trouble-Shooting Information

  • If cookies are too brown try putting the cookies on the bottom rack of the oven or baking them for 10 minutes.
  • If cookies are too cakey, you might have added too much baking soda. Try adding a little more oil or butter to decrease cakeyness a bit.
  • If dough is too sticky that can be due to the dough not thoroughly being chilled or too little flour. Try placing the dough in the refrigerator covered, or put a little more flour in the dough.
  • If the cookies are sticking to the baking sheet, let them cool down on the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes and then remove them.

Congrats! You now have fresh, hot peanut butter chocolate chip cookies! Enjoy!!
