Introduction: Peugeot 3008 5008 Rear Footwell Storage Compartment Lid

Symptoms of Fault

Snapped, broken, collapsed storage lid. Frame of lid come away from carpet. Difficulty opening original lid due to poor design.

The Fault

The OEM storage lid is a poor design which is easily broken.

The original design of storage lids for the footwell glovebox are made from flimsy plastic, foam, fibreglass and carpet and easily snap, break or buckle when stood on.

When broken, the layers of fibreglass become loose and contaminate the carpet and when touched your skin may become red and irritated. It is also not safe to inhale and can be dangerous, especially for a family car which this is made for!

If you approach Peugeot, they will say the lids are not designed to be stood on, which is impossible due to the compartment’s location. Peugeot will proceed to quote around £500 for the entire footwell storage compartment as they do not sell the lid separately.

The original lid is also poorly designed as it is difficult to open. The lid has no handle therefore you need to squeeze your fingers in the gap between the lid and the base.

The Solution

Install the X8R storage lid to save money and restore the look of your interior.

X8R’s improved design storage lid for the rear footwell storage compartment looks the part and is made from MDF wood, it certainly improves the aesthetics of your vehicle’s interior. The MDF is far stronger than the OEM mix of plastic, foam, fibreglass and carpet. It can easily withstand the weight of an adult.

The design also features a stainless steel handle so you can access the storage compartment far more easily than before.
