Pink Triceratops

Usually my niece wants to be some stereotypically girly thing like a mermaid or fairy or princess. It was going to be the same this year until she saw a pattern I bought (Simplicity 1765) and decided that dinosaurs are way better, as long as they're pink.

So I made it and it was mostly easy but the hat was sort of killer. The crest part is hand stitched on and if I hadn't found a glass head in the closet (why do I even have that?) I don't know how I would have managed to line it up and keep it in place while I stitched. Since TX can have unpredictable weather, I wanted to use the lightest weight fuzzy stuff I could find (in case it was hot - it was) which turned out to be some cuddle microfleece stuff from Jo-Ann Fabrics that shed EVERYWHERE. The accents were all done in felt.

I just winged it on the bag which is made entirely of felt. It went from concept to finished in a couple of hours which is really unusual for me. It could have been bigger, but it was sort of last minute so I didn't have time to remake it.

Anyway, she loved it, I love it, and a good time was had by all. Hopefully next year she'll want to be a super hero or an astronaut or something.

I am so glad to have found this! My three year-old son just announced today that he wanted to be a pink dinosaur for Halloween, and no, not an easy dinosaur like a T-rex. At least he gave me two moths warning. Thank you for this! If I remember, I will have to post some pictures of how it turns out.
