Introduction: Plant Box

I had some old scrap wood laying around and I thought, I should build a plant box, which has gaps on the sides and the bottom, so the excess water can run out.

The whole project I eyebolled everything so there aren't any real specific measurements involved.

Step 1: Things You Will Need

You will need:

  • a saw of some sort (it doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a regulare one will do)
  • a hammer and some nails (I would suggest using screws)
  • sandpaper
  • scrap wood

Step 2: Making the Two Sides

First I figured out how long my box was going to be. I took the measurement of 3 planks. After deciding that I took a measurement of that and made a mark where I had cut the structural plank to hold it all together. I cut out 4 of those planks and attached them to make the front and the back side.

Step 3: Starting to Look More Like a Box

After the two sides are done, you need to connect them with some shorter planks. I took a measurement that I thought would look good (you can make it longer or shorter, depends on how wide you want the box to be) and cut out 6 little planks. Then I took some nails and hammered them onto my two bigger frames. Do same for the other side.

Step 4: The Bottom

For the bottom I used 3 long planks (exactly as long as the sides).
Keep in mind to leave gaps between the planks so the exess water can run out.

This is the place I would suggest using screws, because the soil is going to get hevy when you water your plants. Afther you have scrwed those in, turn it over and you are done! You can also sand the box with some sandpaper to give it a finished look.
