Plastic Bottle Boat!

Introduction: Plastic Bottle Boat!

In this Instructable, I'll be showing you how to make a boat completely out of plastic bottles!

In order to create the finished boat, only 2 things are required.
Plastic Bottles (any kind, about 120) Tape (strong, waterproof) Once you have all of your materials find some space and make some time!

Step 1: Strips

The first thing that you have to do is make sure that you have a solid base that floats with weight put on it. The design resembles a simple flat-bottomed boat. So in order to make the dock we are first going to need to make strips of water bottles.

Start by getting ten water bottles and laying them out as shown above. Then wrap tape around to finish one strip. Repeat this process 1 more time. Then, make 4 strips with nine bottles. Finally, make two strips with eight bottles.

Step 2: The Deck

Now what you are going to want to do is position your strips as shown in the above photo and tape them together to form the finished deck. Make sure to cover any holes in the deck with the waterproof tape.

Step 3: The Hull

For the hull there are a few things that we are going to need to make:

  • Two strips made up of eight water bottles
  • Twelve individual water bottles.

Once you have gathered your supplies, tape the water bottles down on top of the designated places found in the image above, highlighted in red. For the long rows, use your strips.

Step 4: The Seat

For the final step we are going to be making the seat. For this step, you are going to need:

  • Two strips made up of eight water bottles

Once you have your two strips, the only thing you have to do is tape them onto the boat in the spots shown in the image above, highlighted in blue.

Have fun on your new boat! :)

I believe if you used more bottles you could have made it look more like a boat to be more kid believable. If it's called a boat you have a duty to follow through with that.
