Do you have an old broken or dirty knife learn to clean it up an make it look good again. In this project you can learn how to fix and modify your old and rusty knives.

Step 1: Materials

Materials for this project are:

Old Pocket Knife
String

Some tools you will need are:

Metal Scratcher
Screw Driver
Sand Paper

Step 2:

First you will need to dissemble your knife. You will need to take off the outer shell, then take off any thing that you can. If your knife has a flash light that doesn't work any more take out the batteries. Then you will need to take off the spring and sand it all the way to the metal. This will give you a small water proof compartment on your knife.

Step 3:

You will need to clean the knife. With a metal scratcher, scratch off all the impurities and all the rust.

Step 4:

Then take the outer shell, with the metal scratcher you will need to scratch off all the old paint and then with the sand paper smooth it out.

Step 5:

You will also need to clean your blades using water and alcohol clean all the blades so that there are no more impurities. Then once that is done you will need to put the outer shell back on. Your knife might also have a key ring take it off and we will later make a cooler thing to attach to your knife.

Step 6:

You will now need the string. first you will need to make two loops which one going through the hole on your knife.

Step 7:

Next you will need to wrap the string over one of the loops starting at the bottom and then pass it through the loop at the top. Then you will need to tighten the circle that is attached to the knife by pulling on the string that is hanging. Then finally cut the two strings hanging to the same length.

Step 8:

You will have two pieces of string you will need to melt them so that the string doesn't fall apart.
