Introduction: Portable UV LED Water Purifier
Outdoor water get's contaminated , consists of several bacteria and virus' and it is unhealthy to drink that water
Coming to the point ultra violet light has a property to kill the bacteria and virus's , bacteria cannot grow and sustain to the wavelength of UV
Based on this property we are going to build a portable water purifier to know more about the UV purification watch this video
Step 1: Parts Needed
PARTS REQUIRED
1) UV LED
2) 10 K RESISTOR
3) SODA BOTTLE
4) AN EXTRA CAP
5) 9 V BATTERY AND ADAPTER
Step 2: TOOLS REQUIRED
1) SOLDERING EQUIPMENT
2) THUMB PIN
3) CUTTERS OR SCISSORS
4) HOT GLUE GUN
Step 3: MAKING
1) First take the old soda bottle remove the cap and make two holes
2) Insert the led from the inner portion of the cap such that the led terminals comes out of the cap and seal with hot glue and make sure that it is leak proof and the terminals of the led are not in contact with water
3) The bigger terminal of the led is always positive and the smaller one is negative
4) Take an another cap of same size and make two holes and insert the wires
5) Now make the connections as show in the above circuit
6) place the second cap on the first cap and seal it with hot glue properly , before sealing make sure the led is working properly

Looks good, have you had any water which has been treated by the UV light tested to see if this is safe to drink, that would be nice to know and I would suggest you post results if you can. Have a good new year

Hi mate, Very cool idea! I think the LED you have used emits UVA which is the least harmful to DNA so not sure it would destroy bacteria. Im no expert and hope I'm wrong, you should check before you drink the water

Yes, you're right, uva will take a long time to kill bacteria in water. You might as well leave it out in the sun all day.
The type of led lamp you'll need is uvc, specifically 260-270 nm. I know Nikkiso makes some of the most powerful around that wavelength.
Another topic that takes more time is an effective reactor body which isn't mentioned at all. Basically you cant be sure all the bacteria had enough exposure time near the light source.
