Hola, mi nombre es Sara Mendoza, tengo 13 años, soy de Colombia, y quise participar en este concurso, porque quiero mostrarle a las personas como realizar esta decoración muy bonita y creativa que seguramente van a querer recrear, así mismo, otra razón por la que quiero participar, es porque quiero contribuir con la creación y el avance de las paginas virtuales, que incentiven la creatividad y las habilidades de crear cosas nuevas con las propias manos, que tengan varios usos, que decoren un espacio, o simplemente algún tipo de gastronomía innovadora, que por supuesto aporte de manera positiva, y que no produzca tanto impacto ambiental, por lo que en el portarretrato que voy a realizar, se pueden usar elementos reciclados o que no tengan ningún uso (que estén un poco viejos); así que sin más preámbulo veamos cómo crear este Portarretrato de lluvia arcoíris.

Supplies

Para poder realizar el portarretrato de lluvia arcoiris se necesitan los siguientes materiales:

• Portarretrato de madera de cualquier tamaño (puede ser uno que no tenga ningún uso o que sea viejo, si esta rugoso en lo posible lijarlo)
• Pintura acrílica blanca
• Hojas de papel iris de color rosado, amarillo, verde, azul claro y violeta tamaño carta (preferiblemente de 15 centímetros de largo)
• Pistola de silicona
• Barras de silicona
• Pincel
• Tijeras
• Regla
• Lápiz

In order to make the rainbow rain photo frame the following materials are needed:

• Wooden frame of any size (can be one that has no use or that is old, if it is rough if possible sand it)
• White acrylic paint
• Pink, yellow, green, light blue, and violet letter-size sheets of iris paper (preferably 15 centimeters long)
• Glue gun
• Silicone bars
• Brush
• Scissors
• Rule
• Pencil

Step 1: Primer Paso:

Pinta el portarretrato de manera horizontal con la pintura acrílica blanca (usando el pincel), trata de pintarlo hacia un solo lado para que se vea uniforme. Yo le aplique 2 capas de pintura blanca dejando secar aproximadamente 20 minutos entre capas, la cantidad de capas depende del espesor de la pintura y de la fuerza que se ejerza cuando se aplique la pintura. Deja secar la última capa 30 minutos para que al aplicar la silicona no se caiga la pintura.

Paint the photo frame horizontally with the white acrylic paint (using the brush), try to paint it to one side only to make it look uniform. I applied 2 coats of white paint, allowing it to dry for approximately 20 minutes between coats. The number of coats depends on the thickness of the paint and the strength exerted when the paint is applied. Let the last layer dry for 30 minutes so that when applying the silicone the paint does not fall off.

Step 2: Segundo Paso:

Mientras el portarretrato seca, vamos a ir realizando las estrellas para decorarlo. Para esto vas a trazar líneas con la regla que tengan 1 centímetro de distancia entre cada una, hasta llenar una hoja de cada color (salen 13 tiras por hoja aproximadamente), cuando las líneas ya estén trazadas, se procede a cortarlas una por una hasta obtener aproximadamente 35 tiras de todos los colores juntos (para un portarretrato de 13x10 cm). Cuando las tiras ya estén recortadas, solo falta realizar las estrellas con el siguiente procedimiento (puede que a los primeros intentos no te salgan, por eso recorta algunas tiras de papel extra):

1. Toma la tira de papel y dobla una esquina de esta hacia la derecha como se muestra en la imagen.

2. Luego voltea la tira de papel y dobla un pedazo de la esquina que anteriormente se dobló, creando así un pentágono (trata de que todos sus lados sean proporcionales), cuando lo hagas, puede quedar un pequeño sobrante, este solo dóblalo hacia atrás cubriendo una pequeña parte del pentágono.

3. Posteriormente, empieza a enrollar la tira de papel alrededor de todo el pentágono, deja que la forma de este te guíe, y así lo cubras por completo conservando la forma pentagonal del inicio.

4. Cuando ya esté completamente enrollado debes dejar un extremo sin enrollar que cubra casi todo un solo lado del pentágono (si este extremo queda muy largo lo puedes cortar, lo importante es que quede un buen pedazo para que la estrella quede bien asegurada), este extremo lo tienes que insertar en una especie de bolsillo o ranura que quedo en el pentágono, asegúrate que no sobrepase la figura del pentágono (que quede introducido totalmente sin que se salga del pentágono).

5. Finalmente, toma el pentágono con los dedos índice y pulgar de ambas manos, y presiona fuerte hasta que el pentágono se infle y que adquiera la figura de una estrella, así mismo hazlo con el otro extremo que sobra por presionar, obteniendo así una bonita estrella inflada de color. PSDT: Cada vez va a ser más fácil hacer las estrellas porque vas adquiriendo práctica en esto.

2. Then flip the strip of paper and fold a piece of the corner that was previously folded, this creating a pentagon (try to make all its sides proportional), when you do it, there may be a little left over, this one just fold it back covering a small part of the pentagon.

3. Subsequently, begin to wrap the strip of paper around the entire pentagon, let its shape guide you, and so cover it completely, preserving the pentagonal shape at the beginning.

4. When it is completely rolled up, you should leave an unwrapped end that covers almost all of one side of the pentagon (if this end is too long you can cut it, the important thing is that there is a good piece so that the star is well secured), This end you have to insert into a kind of pocket or slot that is left in the pentagon, make sure that it does not exceed the figure of the pentagon (that it is inserted completely without coming out of the pentagon).

5. Finally, take the pentagon with the index fingers and thumb of both hands, and press hard until the pentagon inflates and acquires the shape of a star, likewise do it with the other end that is left to press, this obtaining a nice colored puffy star. TIP: As you are making the stars, It is going to be easier to make them because you are gaining practice in this.

Step 3: Tercer Paso:

Después de que el portarretrato este completamente seco, vamos a empezar a pegar las estrellas a este con la pistola de silicona previamente calentada. Las estrellas las vas a pegar en la parte de arriba bastante juntas, y cuando llegues a la mitad del portarretrato pégalas un poco más separadas para dar la ilusión que están cayendo de la parte superior del portarretrato como lluvia. Un tip muy útil es que pegues algunas estrellas un poco salidas de la margen del portarretrato para dar un efecto de realismo y de volumen, pero sin olvidar que queden bien pegadas al portarretrato.

The stars are going to be glued on the top quite close together, and when you get to the middle of the frame, glue them a little more apart to give the illusion that they are falling from the top of the frame like rain. A very useful tip is that you stick some stars a little out of the margin of the closeup to give an effect of realism and volume, but without forgetting that they are well attached to the photo holder.
