Introduction: Potato Bread

In this Instructables, I will show you how to make potato bread. It is a very delicious bread and it doesn't have very many ingredients.

Supplies

  • 1 potato ( you may use any potato medium or large size is what I recommend)
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 packet of instant yeast
  • All purpose flour
  • Large bowls
  • Medium sauce pan
  • Loaf pan
  • Knife
  • Fork
  • Spatula
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • Plate

Step 1: Step 1: Microwave, Peel, and Mash Your Potato.

You will first want to get your potato soft and hot on the inside so microwave it on both sides for 4 minutes. Poke holes all over the potatoes so it doesn't burst in the microwave. Once your potato is out of the microwave let it cool down for a couple of minutes. Once it is cooled down peel the potato and make sure to get all of the skin. After you peel it take a fork and mash till it is soft.

Step 2: Step 2: Heat the Milk and Add the Mashed Potatoes.

You will now add 2 cups of milk to a medium sauce pan and heat it up. You will also add 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar at the same time as you are heating the milk. Once the edges of the milk start to bubble take the milk off the heat and stir to dissolve the salt and sugar. Then add in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the mashed potatoes and mix until not very lumpy.

Step 3: Step 3: Put Mixture Into Large Bowl and Add Yeast and Flour

Put your mixture into a large bowl and add 1 packet of instant yeast and 2 cups of flour. Then mix with a spatula ( if you don't have a kitchen aid) to remove lumps. Once you get rid of any large lumps add 3 more cups of flour until the dough becomes soft and not so sticky. Then put the dough into another large bowl and cover the inside with olive oil and let rise for two hours in a warm spot with the top covered.

Step 4: Step 5: Knead and Add to Loaf Pan.

Once the dough doubles take it out and knead for 4 minutes on a lightly floured work surface. After kneading cut the dough in half with a knife, take a loaf pan cover the inside with olive oil and put the dough into the loaf pan. Put olive oil on top of the dough and let it rise in the loaf pan for 45 minutes in a warm spot while covered until it doubles in size.

Step 5: Step 5: Put Dough in the Oven

When the dough is almost doubled in size (about 40 minutes later) preheat your oven at 375 degrees. After the dough is doubled in size put it in the oven for 35 minutes until it golden brown and registers 200 degrees inside.

Step 6: Step 6: Let Cool and Enjoy

When you take the potato bread out of the oven take it out of the loaf pan and put it on a plate and let cool for 15 minutes. After it has cooled cut open and enjoy it. I really hope you try to make this recipe it is very good and I highly recommend it.
