Introduction: Rainbow Cloud Cake

Step 1: Get All of Your Supplies in Order

Supplies needed are:
-White Cake Mix (or you can make your own recipe)
-Ingredients needed for mix (or your own recipe)
-Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet food coloring
-Large Bowl
-Seven small bowls
-Seven Spoons
-Large Spoon
-2 round cake pans (9 inch)
-Cotton Candy Machine (or store bought white cotton candy)
-Frosting

Step 2: Make the Cake Batter

In this step you follow all the instructions that are supplied on the cake mix, or recipe you are using.

Step 3: Scoop Batter Into Separate Bowls

Place all seven bowls in a line with the corresponding food coloring for that bowl. Next, scoop batter into every bowl. Make sure to scoop the same amount into every bowl. Next put one drop of food coloring into its matching bowl. Then mix! :)

Step 4: Place in Cake Pans

Now that you have mixed the food coloring into the batter pour half of the batter from each bowl into one of the cake pan (the other half is fit the second pan). When pouring start from red and end in violet. Once done pouring find a flat area such as the counter top to lightly drop the pan on several times. This part is very important because it evens the cake and avoids air bubbles in the cake.

Step 5: Bake the Cakes! :)

Bake the cake batter for the instructed amount of time on the recipe you used.

Step 6: Let the Cakes Cool

Once you take the cakes out of the oven let them cool for around 45 minutes.

Step 7: Make Some Cotton Candy

In order to make cotton candy you need a cotton candy machine. This one is from Nostalgia Electronics and is under $50. Your should let the cotton candy maker heat up before adding in your sugar. I used plain old white sugar to make the cotton candy. You don't need to make much just enough to put at the ends of the rainbow.

Step 8: Take the Cakes Out of the Pans

Take the cakes out very gently as to avoid them breaking in half.

Step 9: Cut the Cakes in Half

Now that you have taken the cakes out of the pans cut them exactly in half as shown above.

Step 10: Frosting Time!

Spread frosting on one of the halves on the side of the cake that has the dullest color so the burgher side will be displayed. And then place the halves together.

Step 11: Assembly

In order to keep the cake in place and avoid it going anywhere it is essential to frost a 1 1/2 inch line of frosting in the center of the presentation dish you are using.

Step 12: Assembly (part 2)

Put the one of the cakes that you cut in half on the dish as shown above.

Step 13: Add the Cotton Candy :)

Grab a ball of cotton candy and add it to the ends of the rainbow. This is super adorable because it adds a 3D effect to a cake. And it's super easy to make.

Step 14: Repeat Steps 9-13 Again

You were probably wondering what to do with the extra cake round. Well, you just make another cake, because why not? :)
