Introduction: Rainbow Pineapple Charm

About: I love to sew, and other crafty thing.

I've been wanting to make a rainbow charm for a minute now without trying to pour five different colors evenly and without making a huge mess. I am so happy with how this turned out. Now I want to make give or take about 50 more.

What you'll need:

  • Resin
  • Rainbow glitter- red(pink),yellow,orange,green,blue
  • Pineapple mold
  • Reusable cups for resin
  • Popsicle stick
  • White resin pigment/ white paint*
  • Eye pins or bails
  • Drill
  • Clasp and findings

* I used white acrylic paint and the resin cured just fine but the color shift over time from a pure white to a weird cream color.

Step 1: Mix Resin

First you want to mix the resin according to the package instructions. Mine is a 1:1 ratio resin, so I mixed one part A to one part B. Then pour the resin in a silicone pineapple mold. I picked this one up at Walmart for $1. Make sure to not fill the mold completely because you will be adding glitter and a background after this layer. I added some iridescent flakes to the clear layer to create more of a foreground.

Step 2: Glitter

Once the resin becomes tacky like thick glue about after an hour or so, now it's time to add the glitter. Add the colors in the order of the rainbow. Instead of red I used the pink that came in the set of glitter. Even though I had red glitter it was too intense compared to the rest.

I also poured some resin into a heart mold. I wanted to see how this technique would look shiny as well as matte. The pineapple mold is matte so it will make matte charms, where as the heart mold is shiny the charms will be shiny.

Matte mold = Matte Charms

Shiny mold = Shiny Charms

Step 3: Final Layer

After the clear layer is fully cured shake off the excess glitter. Now mix up a new batch of resin and add white pigment and fill in the mold. Once that fully cures you can pop it out of the mold. Either drill a hole and screw an eye pin or glue on a bail to finish off the charm. Add any beads, charms, or chains to complete the charm. They look so cute!

And now you're done!
