Introduction: Real Snow Cones

If snow is headed your way, set out some bowls to collect the snow as it falls, and make real snow cones! These homemade snow cones have great authentic flavor, are super easy to make, and are very inexpensive. And the best part? How cool is it to make snow cones with real snow?

Supplies

Ingredients

  • 3-ounce package Strawberry gelatin (or flavor of your choice)
  • 2 -12 ounce cans Sprite
  • Fresh snow

Supplies

  • Stovetop
  • Tea kettle
  • Metal bowl
  • Spatula
  • Glass measuring cups
  • Ice cream dishes

Step 1: Collect Snow

Set large, wide bowls outside during a snowfall to collect freshly falling snow. Leave the bowl of snow outside until ready to serve.

Step 2: Making the Syrup

On the stovetop, boil one cup of water.

Pour a 3-ounce package of gelatin into a metal bowl, and add the boiling water. Stir thoroughly, until gelatin is dissolved.

Add two cups of Sprite, and mix thoroughly. Cover the bowl with a lid, and place in the snow until well-chilled, about fifteen minutes.

Step 3: Serve

Place a ball of real snow in an ice cream dish, and liberally cover the snow with chilled snow cone syrup.

Serve immediately.
