Introduction: Rocker Arms Clothes Hanger
Hello everyone, in this project I wanna show you how to make Rocker Arms Clothes Hanger. I made video and step by step instruction how to make it. It is very easy and cheap project. This clothes hanger look realy cool in garage, workshop or bar. So, let's go to work :)
Materials :
- plywood
- rocker arms with shaft (found on scrap)
- screws and nuts
- sandpaper
- wood varnish
- wrench template (step 6)
Tools :
- jigsaw
- scissors
- pencil
- angle grinder
- file
Step 1: Watch the Video
Video will give you a good overview on how to create such a rocker arms clothes hanger. But the following steps will still contain some extra useful information.
Step 2: Find Rocker Arms and Clean
Now you have to find rocker arms with shaft. I found it on scrap. This is a part from car's engine. Disassembly all pieces and clean them. I used diesel and petrol.
Step 3: Prepare Rockers Arm
After cleaning all parts you can use angle grinder to make them more glossy. Rocker arms can twist on shaft, to stop them in right position I made a thread in every arm. I didn't have to make holes in shaft, because they were there.
Step 4: Paint
You should paint rocker arms because sometimes clothes are wet and steel can rust. Before paint clean arms in alcohol. Now paint(I used clear coat).
Step 5: Assembly Rocker Arms
When all parts are painted start assembly all parts together.
Step 6: Big Wrench Behind Clothes Hanger
To make my clothes hanger more "interesting" I made a big wrench behind. You can download template below (CDR and JPG). Draw wrench on plywood and cut the shape. Improve edges (I used belt sander and wood file). Drill holes for hanger and paint.

Step 7: Finish
Screw rocker arms to wrench and your Rocker Arms Clothes Hanger is completely finished :)
You did it! You just created your own Rocker Arms Clothes Hanger..

Nice instructable and video, thanks for sharing. Finished product looks very cool - I like a lot! I have an engine waiting for me to dismantle, and am quite excited about all the various cool parts I will find - I'm just not looking forward to the de-greasing and cleaning which is a nasty business in my experience. Though while my parents are on holiday I am tempted to try the dishwasher ;)
Thanks again, good work.
