Introduction: Rope/Cord/String From Plastic Bottle
How to make rope/cord from plastic bottles. There are various incarnations of this method floating around the web, but I wanted to put one up on Instructables. Please note I am not claiming credit for originally coming up with this idea.
Parts:
1. Scissors
2. Plastic bottle (using a water bottle here)
One can use any kind of scissors, but this is the one that I am using from Home Depot online which is useful for cutting plastic:
MABIS Precision Cut Shears These shears offer serrated edges that assist in cutting the toughest materials. MABIS shears are lightweight, durable, and provide unsurpassed performance under the most demanding conditions.
Step 1: Cut Top Off
Using the scissors, cut the top off.
Step 2: Cut Around Bottle
1. Cut around the edge of the bottle to form a long plastic string
2. Try to cut the string narrow to make it easier to tie.
Step 3: Cut to Preferred Length
1. Cut it to your preferred length.

Ha Ha! Indeed. They are nice scissors so I want to discourage "borrowing". Plus, I needed to use my new blue Home Depot paint pen to mark the. :-)

BTW, I put the link to the scissors on the Home Depot site in case anyone wants to buy one and put their name on it multiple times. (:-O
