Introduction: Sazon Rice

This is a side dish you can make under an hour.

Supplies

1 packet Goya Sazon
1 cup extra long grain rice
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Nonstick frying pan with cover
1/3 medium red onion, chopped
2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste

Step 1: Chop Onion and Add to Oil and Rice in Pan

Chop a 1/3 of a red onion. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to hot pan. Add one cup of white extra long grain rice.

Step 2: Toast the Rice, But Don't Burn

Toast the rice in the pan, mixing periodically in the pan so it does not burn.

Step 3: Add Water and Sazon

Add the water to the pan. Watch out for the steam. Add the packet of seasoning to the pan. If your pan does not have a cover, a sheet of aluminum foil laid on top of the pan will do.

Step 4: Cook the Rice Until Done

The cooking time of the rice may vary. Check periodically after 15 minutes to ensure that the rice won't burn. Once done, take the pan off the flame and serve.

Step 5: Serve Rice

Serve rice with salt and pepper to taste. You can make this as an accompaniment to chicken or a beef main dish.
