Introduction: Screwtop Wine Opening
Now that decent wines come in screwtop bottles, the aspiring alcoholic is faced with a new dilemma: what happens when the screwtop is too tight to unscrew? The usual desperate measures (wrenches; firearms; oxyacetylene torches) all take up precious drinking time, and can leave the wine with a nasty broken-glass taint.
The answer is very simple. Never grip the screw cap to undo it - you're just squeezing the already-jammed threads together. Instead...
Grip and turn the metal collar below the cap. Even the tightest bottle can be opened (by even the tightest person) in this way.
