Introduction: Secret Money Stash Using a Mason Jar

Hi, I'm Landon and I am in 7th grade this year. This instructable will teach you how to make a simple and cool secret stash for things like money, a sheet of passwords, an extra key, or whatever else comes to mind. The project will only take around an hour and all of the materials can be found within your home, so no need to go to the store!

Step 1: Gathering Materials

For this project, you will need:

- Mason jar

- Small food item (cheerios, small candies, nuts, etc.)

- Toilet paper tube (cardboard will work as well)

- Scissors

- Hot glue gun

Step 2: Making the Cardboard Tube

(Skip this step if you have a paper towel/toilet paper tube)

Cut the cardboard to a 6 by 4.75-inch (15.25 by 7 cm) rectangle using scissors or a cardboard knife. Round the cardboard sheet and roll it up to form a tube that will act as the secret compartment where you can store your things. Use hot glue to glue the ends of the cardboard together and apply pressure for 10-15 seconds.

(Note that not all jars are the same size and you might want to measure the height yourself)

Step 3: Getting the Jar Ready

Use a hot glue gun to put glue around the edge of one side of the tube, then center the tube in the jar and hold it down until it dries.

Step 4: Filling the Jar Up

For this step, grab the item you want to put in your jar and slowly fill in the outside of the tube with that item. make sure nothing gets in the tube, and that the tube is completely hidden. I recommend using a popsicle stick to help push the cheerios down. After awhile your jar should be completely filled up like the third picture and ready to be used.

Step 5: Finished Product

Congratulations on making this handy project, hopefully, yours turned out as well as mine did and you are finding unique uses for it.

Make sure to comment suggestions, post what you made,
