Just turn your box cutter into Self Retracting Box Cutter Using Rubber Band

Supplies

-> your usual Box Cutter

-> Rubber band (I used a 20 milimeters diameter)

->Universal pliers (or tweezers)

->Something to help you reach small pieces ( I used a small screwdriver)

Step 1: Dismantle the Box Cutter

Simply remove the bottom and center piece and remove the blade, as shown in the pictures

Step 2: Disassemble the Centerpiece

Disassemble the centerpiece and remove the metal parts that secure it

Step 3: Place the Rubber Band

Place the Rubberband so that the center piece is attached in some way (you can use glue)

Step 4: Assemble the Box Cutter

Assemble the box cutter, making sure that the Rubber Band is stuck somewhere, I used the bottom part to pin it so that it is stuck.

    Isn't this a little dangerous? These knives' lock mechanism is mostly flimsy and gets broken easily. When cutting hard stuff such as corrugated cardboard the lock starts to slip on the rack. The blade may suddenly retract when it happens if it is spring loaded, and cut the user's hand. I suggest doing this only with sturdy box cutters with a metal lock mechanism.
