Introduction: Simpel Shoe Rack

About: Just a dude with a passion for furniture.

So my wife and i was looking for shoe rack in the shops, but didn't find any that had the right feel to it, or size for that matter. :)

We searched on Pinterest and after houres for research, we found a low budget, and cheap looking edition of this.

Step 1: Materials

MDF.

I get it for free at my work, but it does not cost much anyways.

Shelf holder: 23 Pieces of: 280x40x22mm -- Raw 22mm MDF

Back plate: 1 Pice of: 280x1500x19mm -- I used chip board with edge bands

Shelves: 6 Pieces of: 280x300x12mm -- Melamine MDF for less painting - With edge bands

Rack holding system: 2mm metal bend it to 45 degrees.

Step 2: Round Over

Round / chamfer over the edges of the shelves holders - I use a chamfer bit.

Sand the edges to make et even and smooth.

Step 3: Paint.

Start with your favorite prime base, and add top coats until it is as you like. I finished with a lacquer for more resistance against scratches.

The colour i used a charcoal inspired.

Step 4: Putting Together.

This is the fun part.

Line up the first holder at the top, and drill thru a template pice! (You will have 3 with my material list)

Place a shelf next to the first template pice, and place the next template pice on the other side of the self and secure it with a clamp.

Make sure to line up with a square from time to time.

When the bottom are reached, flip the back plate and counter sink every hole.

Now it is time to screw to shelf holders to the back plate. again use clamps, square, and a shelf for perfect lineup.

Step 5: How to Hang It?

You can also just screw it directly into the wall, but i prefer this hidden detail. :)

Use a router with a tilt base to make a pocket hole in 45 degrees.

The mounting plate is just a 2mm bent piece of scrap metal bent to 45 degrees, with 2 holes in it.

Step 6: Time to Enjoy.

Total time spend was around 6 - 8 hours. Most of this was painting.

Difficult? - NO! I would rate this as a 2 out of 10.
