Introduction: Solar Oven S'mores

About: I love making things and simple electronics!
Solar Ovens are great things especially if you enjoy camping, hiking, picnics, and snacking!  These snacks taste just like the snacks that you could buy at a store for much more money and plus, you can say that you made your snacks with the power of the sun!

Although S'mores are fun to make at a campfire, they can be even more fun to make them right in your solar oven!  S'mores are one of my favorite snacks and I was thrilled when I found out I could make them in my solar oven.

I was inspired to make these s'mores because....

- I wanted to get more use out of my solar oven
- I wanted to show what solar ovens are capable of
- I am going camping next week
- I love s'mores!

Some great things about my s'mores are.....

- They taste delicious
- They are fun to make
- They take 5-7 minutes to cook
- They are ecofriendly

I hope you enjoy making your ecofriendly, delicious solar oven s'mores!

Step 1: Materials

You will need...  (These materials make ten s'mores)

- 10 graham cracker
- A big Hershey's chocolate bar
- 10 big marshmallow
- A sunny day!

Tools

- A solar oven

Step 2: Pre-heating the Oven

In order to make your delicious s'mores, your oven is going to need to be very hot so we are going to have to leve it in direct sunlight for about 20 minutes.  If you have access to a temperature gun, test the temperature of your oven and make sure it is between 195° F and 230° F.  These temperatures are ideal for making your s'mores.

If your oven doesn't get very hot, make sure the sun is hitting the reflectors and reaching the oven.  Also, make sure it is a sunny day!

Step 3: Melting the Mallow!

Now you are going to want to place one of your marshmallows into the small pot and put the pot in the oven.  Making sure you don't touch anything hot, place the pot on the black part of your solar oven.  Depending on the temperature of your solar oven, it may take a little bit longer to melt your marshmallow, but typically, they melt in about 7 minutes.

This is one of the longest parts of making you s'mores so please be patient!

Step 4: Assembling the S'more!

Now that your marshmallow is melted, you are going to want to break off two pieces of the Hershey's bar and place them on top of the marshmallow while it is still in the oven.  Wait two minutes for the chocolate to melt and take the marshmallow out of the oven.

Break the graham craker in half and put one half on top of the marshmallow and the other half on the bottom.  Now squish the contents of the s'more by sqeezing the two graham crackers together and you are done!  This is the best part of the whole instructable, eating the S'more!

Step 5: Enjoy!

Now you know that you don't need a campfire to enjoy S'mores and you can make them right in your solar oven.  Be ecofriendly and make a delicious snack by making your very own solar oven S'mores!  Questions and Comments are appreciated so please post them below!  Thanks!
