Introduction: Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade

About: Hello and Welcome to In the Kitchen With Matt. I am your host Matt Taylor. My goal for the show is to teach you how to cook really good food at home for cheap. Eating out everyday can get expensive, but it doe…

In this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt myself and my cousin Sofia will show you how to make Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade. I was in Oklahoma City for a family reunion and my cousin wanted to do a video with me and since we had lots of family coming over to the house and since it was super hot and humid we thought a nice refreshing sparkling strawberry lemonade was in order. It is very easy to make, if we can do it, you can do it. :) Let's get started!

Don't forget to follow me and check out my other instructables. :)

If you have any questions or comments leave them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. :)

Follow the easy steps below or watch the short video tutorial or do both! :)

Step 1: Ingredients and Tools

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of lemon juice (freshly squeezed or bottled) (235mL)
  • 6 cups of sparkling water (1410mL)
  • 2 cups of sugar (450g)
  • 2 cups of filtered water, or good tasting tap water (470mL)
  • 2 cups of strawberries (you can add more)(400g)
  • sliced strawberries to float on the top

Tools:

  • bowls
  • pot
  • wooden spoon
  • serving container
  • food processor or blender

Step 2: Simple Syrup

First we need to create our simple syrup. The reason why we do this is to insure the sugar dissolves. Pour the two cups of white granulated sugar and 2 cups of filtered water into a sauce pot and bring it to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once you get it to a bowl take it off the heat and let it cool for 20 to 30 minutes. (to speed up the cooling you can put it in the freezer or fridge)

Step 3: Puree the Strawberries

Now we take about 1/2 cup of the simple syrup and put it in a food processor or blender. Then add in the 2 cups of strawberries, you can definitely use more strawberries then 2 cups if you like. Then blend the ingredients together.

Step 4: Mix, Mix, Mix

Next pour the strawberry puree into a serving container, then add in the rest of the simple syrup (or only half if you don't want it really sweet, you can always add in more after to sweeten it up). Then add in the sparkling water and the lemon juice. Next stir it all together with a long spoon.

Step 5: Floating Strawberries and Serve It Up!

Next drop in some sliced strawberries to float around on the top. You also may want to add some fresh mint leaves to float on the top as well. Now serve it in a cup of ice. I don't recommend adding a bunch of ice directly to the container of lemonade, it gets diluted quickly. I find individual glasses of ice is better. But you can do what you like. :) :) Enjoy!
