Introduction: Star Wars Death Star Peanut Butter Cups

I am a big fan of Star Wars, and I LOVE Peanut Butter Cups, so in this instructable we are making Star Wars Death Star Peanut Butter Cups. These treats are super creative, easy to make, and are sure to impress your friends and family especially if they are Star Wars fans. Tools/Ingredients -

  • Death Star Silicone Sphere Mold (I found mine on Amazon)
  • Chocolate (About 1 cup of milk chocolate melting wafers, or chocolate chips, chocolate bars, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • several bowls
  • spoons
  • plastic bag (or piping bag) or small funnel

Step 1: Melt Some of the Chocolate

First let's take a small amount of chocolate and place it in the smaller bowls. Now let's go ahead and melt the chocolate in the microwave. We will microwave it on high, in bursts of 30 seconds, stirring in between each burst.

Step 2: Place Chocolate on Bottom Mold

Now we take our melted chocolate and spoon it into the bottom half of our Death Star Silicone Mold (I found mine on Amazon). Then give it a tap on the table or counter so the chocolate can even out. Next place these halves in the fridge for about 15 to 30 minutes until it sets up nicely.

Step 3: Make the Peanut Butter Inside

Now we will make our peanut butter inside. Combine the peanut butter, powdered sugar, salt, and then melt your butter (microwave 30 to 40 seconds) and pour that in.

***If you are using salted butter, leave the salt out.

Step 4: Mix Well

Now mix all those ingredients together. Then touch it with your finger. You should be able to touch it without it sticking. If it is too sticky, add some more powdered sugar.

Step 5: Form Peanut Butter

Take out the molds from the fridge. You will notice the chocolate has set up nice and firm. Now let's take a spoonful of peanut butter mixture and form it into a small ball and place on the bottom half of our Death Star Silicone Mold.

Step 6: Put Lid On

Next we seal up the mold with the top half. You will notice a little notch on the top half and a groove on the bottom half, you want to line these up. Then push them together.

Step 7: Fill Mold - Method 1

Now we melt the remaining chocolate so we can fill our molds. This first method utilizes a small funnel. Place the funnel on top, so the the chocolate will go in the hole. Tap the top of the funnel to help the chocolate along. Make sure to tap the mold on the counter to let the chocolate settle and form around the peanut butter mixture. This method works, but takes more time then the following method.

Step 8: Fill the Mold - Method 2

This method is my favorite method. Take a bag, and place your melted chocolate in it. Then snip off the tip, making a piping bag. Then squeeze the bag and let the chocolate come our the opening, fill the bottom half up.

Step 9: Put on Top Half and Fill

Now we place the top half on and then using our piping bag (plastic bag) continue the fill the mold with chocolate. You will need to tap it periodically to let the chocolate flow around the middle peanut butter mixture. After you are done filling it up. You can clean off the tops if you like with a paper towel or cloth. Then place the molds in the fridge or the freezer. We want the chocolate to set completely and get nice and hard before trying to remove the chocolate. 1 hour works well.

Step 10: Remove the Chocolate Death Star From Its Mold

Now the moment of truth! We open up our molds to reveal our treat inside. This part can be a bit tough, the molds like to stick, but you just need to work at it, and it will come loose. Enjoy!

***The walls will be fairly thick. You will need to let it sit out at room temperature for awhile before trying to eat it.
